98 Trans Am Katzkin Seat Covers
I just bought these new cover and were wondering if anyone has done the install themselves. I see the install kit of pliers and hog rings are very cheap (ebay). I only have to do the two front seats, so would you recommend installing these myself or pay $250.00 to have them install?
Level of difficulty from 1-10.
1- being very easy
2- extremely difficult and recommend professional installation.

do them yourself. They aren't bad. I did my entire kit in one weekend. You only need the hog ring pliers for the rear buckets (no hog rings on the front). The headrests are a pain to get on but that's just because they are tight. It's all pretty straight forward as to how they attach and all.

I miss Augusta, Ga.
Have been in Chicago for the past 14 months, but will be leaving here shortly..
Do the front seats cover just pull over the seat and attach with the plastic rail?
I just have the two front seats, and the quote I was given was $250 & $350.
With that being said I should be able to get it done this weekend while watching football games.

Yea, just take the seat abart, pull the old covers off, slip the new ones on and clip them on the bottom just like the stock ones, put the seats back together and enjoy.
I don't know if I could handle living up north in the cold after being down here my whole life haha

How do you removed the headrest? I been fighting with this for about an hour and only see the plastic retainer embedded into the seat, which I cannot pull out..

You have to release the headrests from the inside. Take the back off and it will be accessable.
BTW. I had mine installed. By ordering through the shop I got them installed for $50 more than I could have bought them outright. You already have the covers so $250 is reasonable.
If you install you take the risk of tearing the material. If a shop does it, they take the risk.

I installed mine myself. It's katzkin also, but I got it from autoleathers.com.
The hardest part is if you have the AQ9 seats with the plastic bellows on the side...the leather has to be sewn onto the plastic bellows.
Still, very doable as a DIY project...
good luck...
