z28-r
someone posted in here on the z29r spoiler...the car had a z28r badge on the rear of the car...personally i thought it looked pretty good ... i figured that if TA got ws7 and ws9 it would be okay to ask what peple thought...
and dont say its rice because if it was they wouldnt have made a cobra-r, corvette-r, or a viper gts-r

This goes hand in hand with the SS badges on a non-SS vehicle. If it's not what the badges say, it's posing. It's one thing to throw the Mecham spoiler on, but it's another to say your car is the Z28-R car (and thus having much more horsepower) when you don't.
PS - The emblems say "Z29r" not "z28r" so I don't know where you're getting the "8" from.

"In 1979 the first Z29R ran the road courses of the Southwest United States setting three track records in six events and qualifying on the pole at Road Atlanta for the SCCA Runoffs. Street versions of the car were produced in such small numbers that these cars remain some of Mecham's rarest creations.
In 1999 the first modern Z29R's were produced. The Z29R includes the full measure of standard and optional performance available in the Mecham T/A. In standard form the Z29R performance levels are elevated in every category: Improved handling, quicker acceleration, effective aerodynamics, and striking appearance.
If you want more, the Z29R has an extensive list of options that provide you the ability to further enhance and individualize your vehicle's appearance and performance capabilities. ****Once the equipment and appearance decisions are made, each Z29R is series numbered and fully documented.****
Heres the basic package----pretty much like a basic SS package
Z29R Camaro ( Standard Package )
Pro Dyno High Performance MTTP Exhaust System
Mecham satin 7.5" POWER OVAL cast aluminum Exhaust Tips
K&N Filtercharger Air Filter
Mecham 4-port Extractor / Ram Air Hood
Mecham Flush mount HDF rear Wing
Energy Suspension Sway Bar Bushings, Front and Rear
Pro Performance Springs, Front & Rear
Performance Front End Alignment
B&M Ripper Shifter, ( 6-Speed only )
High Performance Gear Ratio, 3.73:1 ( 6-speed ) or 3.42:1 ( 4-speed Auto )
Controls Optimization
Z29R Dual Tone Graphics in 3M vinyl with Series Numbers
Magnesium alloy commemorative Dash Plaque with Series Number
Owner Information with Registration Application
Z29R Camaro, ( Standard Package ) Parts and Installation $6,299.00
If you don't have a series # dash plaque. You have no business putting the z29 badges on. Simple as that.
I still plan on converting mine. Not sure if i''l use the z29 graphics or not. Maybe just chop off the R and leave the z29. Or leave them off all together.

its either all or none, i cant see how some people would say its ok for some badges and not others when its still serving the same purpose. if you want a badge put it on, people act like its making such a big statement like you are trying to convince them "I have a z29r (or z28r) blah blah horsepower racecar whatever" when you really just want your car to look how you want it to look.
i mean, should people not paint their camaros viper steel grey because that means "I have a viper"?? its all the same **** make your car look the way you want it to...

I completely agree with you. If you think it looks good then do it. Thats what gives us the wide variety of cars on this site. Just because your isn't a Z29R, who cares, if you like the decal, do it. How many of us have put ZR1's and Z06 wheels on our Camaro's and T/A's? Or how about SS hoods and spoilers, and Ram Air hoods on regular Camaro's and T/A's. You have an idea for your car then go for it, don't worry what other people think.
