Default Leaf Blower?!?!?!?

I was looking to buy a leaf blower to help me dry my car off after washes.....

What is the most affordable/best one you've used??? And where is a good place to buy it?

I bought mine from Sears, a Craftsman, for around $40. Its a electric one and it blows 220 mph. Works like a charm, life saver!! Any 200 mph plus blower will do the job

wow I need one of these cause i hate dry the car with towels. I even use Micro Fiber and I'm still EXTREMELY paranoid of scratches and swirls.

I use a gas-powered Homelite, which I believe is Home Depot’s brand. I really prefer drying as much of my car this way as possible. Something to remember, blow-drying your car works best if you maintain a good sealant on the paint so the water beads well.

I have never heard of using a leaf blower to dry off a car! Sounds like it would work, but your neighbors have got to think that you have lost your mind!

If any of my neihbors pay any attention to me while I'm washing/detailing my car... then there is little doubt to them that my mind was gone long long ago lol

I have a gas one from sears. IMPORTANT, if your leafblower subs as a chipper, be careful that you dont have sand, rocks and wood chipps in it cause sand and rocks at 200+ mph sucks. My buddy was doing his car, set it to idle, sat it down, wiped a spot and then picked it back up, when he cranked it back up, rock accross the hood.

I love mine, 2 of my neighbors have addopted the leafblower technique since I moved in.

just a quick thought.... isnt using any type of forced air outdoors a bad idea with paint? im sure particles and such could damage the paint, especially if it picks up rocks and dust and such off the ground

If there are particles in the air that can harm the car at low leafblower speed, then that means those same particles are landing on your wet car and you are dragging them around with a shammy or towel as well. Also,if a leafblower used at low to medspeed will scratch your paint then we should prob never drive our cars above 40mph again. I have never cranked mine up to its full speed, normally a tad above idle will get rid of water on a nicely waxed car. Honestly the best thing they are good for is getting water out of those places that retain it. Mirrors, bumper, etc.

I have always been against using gas powered leaf blowers. I thought the exhaust gas is expelled out the pipe that does the blowing?
I would think that would be bad for paint, having a gas/oil mix(2 stroke) exhaust blown on the car.

Mr Clean AutoDry is even easier... if I dry I use the silicon blade. I tried the leaf blower thing once, worked great actually... my neighbors assume I know what I'm doing when it comes to my car

Mr Clean DOES have its own wax type finish, and yes it took my wax off the first time I used it (I think, it had been a while since I waxed anyhow). I was reticent to use it at first, especially on a black car, but I was very impressed. Gives off a great shine (probably not quite as good as some brand name waxes, but I digress), and kills the most boring part of washing a car, the drying.

The exhaust comes out of the muffler not the air tube.I use a Stihl BR400 works great. The blower is the way to go.
