momo steering wheel commando-r
posted for reference
momo commando-r steering wheel, momo "automatic" shift ****.
modded the airbag plug with a few resistors to trick the airbag system into thinking the driver bag is still there, so airbag light doesn't remain on and the passenger bag still functions. horn is functional too.

cost - wheel $?? + steering wheel adapter $80 + $1 resistors from radioshack
torx screws hold the airbag on and you might need a steering wheel puller $15
installation is not hard, but may not be easy for some. had to mod the horn wire and get that and the airbag wire through the little holes in the steering wheel adapter.
there's a thread on the airbag resistor thing here

it is referred to in terms of aftermarket parts coverage.
the only relevant claim-denying exclusion i have exposure to is with the nitrous system. if i am in a wreck and cited for street racing because of the nitrous system, my insurance claim would fall on its face.
as for the legality of removing the airbag, thanks to the NHTSA, it is against federal law in the US http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/adap...e_ask_Ques.htm , but for an insurance claim to be denied based upon violation of that law, it has to be proven that the bodily injury or property damage was "caused by, or reasonably expected to result from" the criminal act. any ambiguity in the policy language favors the insured, so the only way i could see this happening is if you were removing the airbag while driving down the road and you wreck because it popped in your face. if anyone wants to open this one up for debate (bodily injury resulting from decreased effectiveness of restraint system?), i'm game .
