Re: Advice on pulling the bumper supports
Dont waste your time! I posted the same question here and on Ls1.com and got no replies. Well I had to find out the hard way, It was very difficult to access a few of the bolts that attach the bumper to the fenders on the inside. I actually couldnt get to them and had to get my next door neighbor to help. Finally we got the bumper off and there was the styrafoam reinforcement at the nose. We were both so dissapointed when we finally got that off as it only weighed about 4 lbs. I guess whoever posted on this board that the front bumper support weighed 20 lbs mustve meant the entire front bumper that the styrafoam was attached to. I couldnt take that off because my intercooler for my blower was bolted to it and my headlights (TA) were too. I also wouldnt want to drive around with out that piece of steel right there anyways. Not worth 20 lbs if thats what everyone was talking about! I still removed all my sound deadening material underneath the carpet though. You can also buy a dynabatt battery which only weighs 13 lbs as compared to the 32 lbs stocker. I also am getting my PA racing k member and a arms any day now, which is another 43lbs. Hope this helps.

Re: Advice on pulling the bumper supports
I pulled the front support off my 99 T/A. Yes the whole thing including the metal is 20lbs. I had to lose my foglights but having the holes where the fog lights used to be has opened up my eyes to a new ram-air setup I'll be trying in the near future. There are a couple tough bolts to get out up near the top of the wheel wells on either side of the car but it's not too bad. Took me and a friend about 45 minutes to do it.

Damn dude, I give you credit for getting that bumper off and back on in 45 min. Considering it took me about 2 hours just to get it off.

I am seriously thinking about pulling the front one, it's weight in the wrong place. The rear one stays. I am 10000 times more likely to get rearended.

Re: Advice on pulling the bumper supports
I pulled the front bumper support off today.
It took about 2 hrs.( by myself).I could probably
do it in 30-45 minutes, now that I know how to do
it.Didn't have to pull the front clip.Dynabatt
should be here any day.Another 40 lbs. down....
Then it goes to Speed Inc. for BMR's trac pack,
4.10 gears,Mcleod clutch, and Hal shocks,and HPP3.
Fastest stock internal M6 here I come.Should hit
11.80's to 11.90's,then comes the ET streets
and skinnies.Oh, I almost forgot,fibergless hood
coming soon...... <img src="graemlins/camaro.gif" border="0" alt="[Chevrolet]" />
