Default 4L80E w/ stock 10 bolts....question for you

Im using the stock 10 bolt with a 4L80e with a stock driveshaft with a 5" slip yolk. Are you using the stock driveshaft or aftermarket? Im getting a vibration in my car at 100mph and im wondering if it is coming from the driveshaft. I have about 1 7/8" of driveshaft sticking out from the tail shaft and about 3 5/16" of driveshaft inside the transmission.

thanks for any help

I have a bad vibration at high speed and it was the pinion angle. Yours could be the tail shaft bushing to.

I have the stock driveshaft it seems fine like I hear alittle noise inside the car but I think it always did that since I added that tq arm which seemed to add alittle vibration or interior noise just at like certain rpms so im pretty sure that its my torque arm which is the umi adjustable one that mounts in the tunnel.

If you have a new adjustable torque arm , did you check your pinion angle after installing the torque arm ? That must be done !! The viberation maybe your u-joint in a binding . I have a adjustable torque arm and that was my problem ,adjusted the pinion angle and stopped the viberation. just a thought

I had the same problem as well.... It ended up being that the rear transmission bushing had walked out of the tranny. when that happens the whole transmission is out of alignment, the vibration worked its way through the transmission, wiping out some more of the internal bushings and scarring the hub on my TC. Not saying that is your problem, but I would look into it ASAP!

Damn thats not good! How fast did you have to go before you noticed the vibration?
How can I check this??

Also, would having a blown out rear shock cause any vibrations??

I would notice it at about 65-75 mph, it was most noticeable on deceleration though…. I didn’t think much of it, Cause WOT was virtually unaffected. Big mistake on my part… If you want to check it yourself, all you need to do is take off the tail shaft housing, and see if the bushing is still in the case. its not hard, cause if it isn’t, You’ll know.

Good luck

well I took the tail shaft housing off and everything looks to be snapped in place.

If the bushing wasnt in place, where would it be? I guess just laying in the tailshaft housing?

I only notice the vibration at around 90-100mph and higher. I steering wheel feels fine. I notice it under the console.

This year I installed a 4L80e, kept my stock driveshaft and stock TA and bought a stock, low mile 10 bolt off of another member. I wonder if the driveshaft could just be out of balance. Not sure how that would happen though.

yeah, the bushing would just be there hanging on the tail shaft. if the vibration is coming from under the center consol, I wonder if your TA was just a little loose or it the TA bushing is going out.

the TA bushing is brand new. Since my driveshaft has 1 7/8" of yolk coming out of the tailshaft and I always hear that you want 1" of yolk, could that be the problem?
