Remove the dust cover, 4 screws, and roll the flywheel over 360* and look to see if a weight or converter bolt came loose and was boucing around.

If it did, hopefully you can get it fixed before you do any damage. If a bolt came out it could cause the converter to wobble and demolish the pump rotor. It happened to me after the car sounded like i put a handful of nuts and bolts in a blender.

Fix it quick and it won't be that bad.

Also the wobbling of the torque convertor can walk the bushing in the pump and cause the hi pressure return hole to get covered up and blow out the front seal. BAD NEWS!
Check flywheel now for cracks also.

took off the cover it was a loose bolt that holds the convertor to the flywheel. i put a new bolt in and everything seems good except the starter is missing a chunk out of it

if its leaking from the engine its either a rear main seal or freeze plug.

from the pictures it looks like an oil pan gasket leak. Since its all over everything under there, not just the back of the engine. You can see stuff all over the starter and coolant lines.

I had a similar issue with my 94 Formula... Except it was a small bolt at the top of the engine in the transmission and converter area. I think it was a little 10 mm bolt that held in the rear seal or something ( I can't remember what it was honestly; It's been 3 years ago) But I pulled the cover and a little bolt that had broke in half fell out. It ended up dragging the face of the converter and the case of the trans on the inside. It didn't hurt anything, but just dug into the case and converter a little bit. Thank God!

Glad you got it figured out. As for the leak, Looks like an oil pan gasket leak and could also be the front crank hub seal. Mine leaked VERY bad and eventually had to replace it! Oil would run out from the crankshaft hub and down the sides and bottom of my pan and all over the exhaust.
But I fixed that FAST lol.
Also had a front pump go bad in my Formula and it leaked trans fluid at WOT, and unfortionentely I was almost always at WOT with that car hahaha.

Glad it was an easy fix!
