What happens if my gauge does't get a full 12v?
So I installed an autometer electric trans temp gauge and I pulled the 12v from a source that I now think is not supplying a full 12v (not around the car to check right now, but will certainly do so).
The gauge has always seemed to read low (it's in the pressure test port and NEVER gets over 125F). Could the low voltage cause it to read low? Or is that not how these gauges work?
And in case you're wondering, I tied the 12v into the 12v wire coming off of the traction control switch (i don't use the tcs and never push the button). If I DO push the button, the needle automatically plummets to 0 (or whatever degree is at full left).
So whatcha think?
