Default Shifting into 3rd and overdrive too soon

First. 2000 TA 3k on fresh engine build/ tranny build/ new phoenix transmission 3400 converter. Now that I'm at 3k I just now hit it hard for the first time yesterday and it ran great. Today I put my foot in it and it chirps the tires hard at 2nd, then at wide open throttle stops gaining and feels like it goes into third, and then overdrive. With my foot to the floor, it doesn't go above 3k rpm. It drives fine around town and shifts normally. but at WOT once it hits third it turns into a dog. ideas?

Have you had tuning done for the converter. If not theres your problem.

Well, it through a TPS overvoltage code. And it makes sense I guess, so I grabbed a TPS at lunch today and hope to install it tonight. So we'll see.
It was tuned originally with a yank 3200 so I wouldn't think 200 more stall would make this much difference, but who knows? I'm getting it dyno tuned in a couple of weeks.

Keep me posted on what the tuner finds out Ron. I dont think its a tranny issue. Remember, if you break it I'll fix it.

Thanks John. Of course it's not doing it now, but I have the TPS and will put it in when it does it again. I don't think it's the tranny either. Thanks for building it for me. Greaseymec is the man guys!

Well, it looks like changing the TPS fixed it.
