Another Trans Cooler Question!
My father-in-law had this sitting in his garage and told me if i can use it i can have it. Well i was hoping with these pictures you guys might be able to tell me if it will work on my '00 TA and what i will need to get to make it work. Its about 10 1/2in by 71/2in in size and it is not leaking (as far as i can tell) Any help would be appreciated!

unfortunately no. i can't seem to find any part numbers on the thing. all it says is CANADA on the mounting bracket portion. i figured i would be better off buying a new one but i just wanted to see if i could save about fifty bucks and maybe just purchase the install kit. It looks like all the rest with a slightly diff. design.

i used my hose to spray water through to make sure there were no clogs and water seemed to flow through B-E-A-utifully! but i'm sure something else would work better to help get crap out.

I would use some acetone or another solvent like that to clean out that cleaner. If worse comes to worse, use some warm soapy water with an air compressor.
If you have the money, just purchase a new one and don't worry about cleaning that cooler out.

yeah i'm leaning more towards just getting a new one i guess----less hassle. now i have researched as much as i can about how to install these but any info/pics you guys have would be helpful. Especially if you guys have any pics on where your connecting the hoses and how your running them.

DO NOT put water in the cooler. What the hell are you guys thinking?
This isn't all about looks, you need to think about whats inside the cooler, NOT the fins.
You can use a whole can of brake cleaner or two, or lacquer thinner. But you need to blow it out with a good amount of compressed air.
I've seen a lot of **** come out of coolers, and looking at the design of that one, I'd say buy a new one like a B&M and throw that one in the garbage.
You're looking at $50 to $90 for a new one, or possibly $2,xxx for a new transmission. Whats a better deal?

Hey:
Buy a Setrab, B&M, Derale, Hayden, Perma Cool, or Longs low pressure drop, stacked tube and fin type cooler, about 25,000 BTU or bigger, if your going to be running a fuddle. Some companies list them for towing, or RV use and rate them in GVW, you still you want 25,000 plus. If you use it in really cold weather or as a daily driver get a cold weather thermostatic bypass valve as well. If you use it only in the hot summer for long cruises get a electric fan kit for the cooler, you'll need it.

Um.. Not to cause any flames, but I have flushed coolers with SOAPY Water about a gazillion times, then clean water, then compressed air to get the water out without any failures. But YMMV. If you flushed it and immediately assembled it while there was still water in it you could kill your tranny though.
