Glide or Th350
I am currently running a TH350 with a 4000 ati converter in my
99 ls1. Race weight is 3600lbs. 3.73 gears. I want to put in
a transbrake but was told it wouldnt hold up in the TH350.
I have a powerglide with a brake and was wondering if any
of you all had an experience with a glide. Will it hurt the ET
or help. I dont really want to build a TH400 but may have to
for the transbrake to hold up. Whats the opinions.

IMO your car is too heavy for a glide and too high of a gear. You don't need to swap to a TH400 to have a T-brake but you must change a few parts in the 350 when going with a Tbrake. I have a TH350 in my car with T-brake and have no problems leaving off the T-brake every pass so you need to find a better tranny guy. If you get your raceweight down to 3,100-3,200lbs and add n2o the glide would work well. Later

Put the glide in the car if it has a decent gear set in it. The first time you turn loose of the button at 3,500 rpm you'll wonder why you had a 350 in it in the first place.
The glide will not slow the car down. The glide and 350 have the same high gear, 1:1. The glide will allow you to launch at a higher rpm without loosing the tire at the hit as opposed to the 350 or a 400.
A well built 350 can take the punishment at your power level, but it should have a decent upgraded input shaft and a few other hard parts upgrades before I would let it see a high rpm launch off a trans brake.
If your glide has a turbo input shaft, then you might not have to swap converters. But talk to someone who knows his stuff before installing it, you want to make sure the stator tube and converter bushings are copmpatible with the input shaft setup.
If the 350 is a lock-up unit, the converter wont work.
