RPM has their vig's painted black. Seems that now since sonnax is selling kits for billet fronts there are more and more companies putting these together. God only knows who's it is unless there is a sticker or some kind of ID stamp on it.

Heres my FTI, but that sticker flew off the first 1/2 hour, the noise it made scared the **** out of me so I looked in the bellhousing and there it was. Like a card in bicycle spokes.

Heres a Circle D.

TCI hasn't painted their converters black since around 2003. They're dark gray metallic. You might find a part number stamped in the converter and determine whose it is.

Really^ The SSF3500 I put in my old SS was certainly gloss black in Dec 04? Could have been old stock on the shelf I guess? For the OP's sake I hope it's NOT a TCI...

Yours may have been old stock. The Julian day on the converter will tell you when it was manufactured. The billet TCI converter is as good as any on the market. Maybe you're thinking about the non-billet version?

Here is a Circle D.

Here is what the side facing the front of the car looks like. I think Circle D usually rights on the part that goes in the flywheel. Mine says Ls single I think. I have the Circle D 3400 and mine stall the exaxt same 2800-3000

TCI didn't make billet fronts in 2004.
I would guess a billet TCI would be as good as any billet converter.

This is the TCI you want to stay away from.
