Extra WIDE 29 element sprag
Im about to go back into my 4l60e and have been looking into an 4l80e. After seeing some high rwhp ratings on some of the 4l60e's im thinking of sticking with it and updating it with some of the newer parts thats out there.
My question is I keep seeing the ''NEW Extra WIDE Heavy Duty double caged 29 element sprag'' listed on the level 7 60s, is this different from the borg warner double caged 29 element that i have now, and where can I buy it if so? thanks
My setup is in sig no rwhp #s yet due to trans slipping under wot

I'm pretty sure the only way you are going to get your hands on one is if you order a complete sprag assembly from the dealer for an 08 and later vehicle. I know the late model TBSS have them from the factory. To answer your question yes it is different than the BW one you have. To be honest if you are not having sprag failures I would not sweat it. Bringing up a 2-year old thread...
I went to the dealer for a sprag assembly for a 2008 Trailblazer SS. They gave me a printout of all the parts - the heading is for light trucks 2006-2009 with 4L70E trans.
The sprag lists as #24240575, but was superceded by #24241477. I opened it up and the sprag is the same width as the 4L60E.
Therefore, if someone knows more or which part # to get, please post it.
Thanks.
BTW the complete sprag assembly lists for $300, but is available on Amazon for $160.

After spending $250 to buy the latest model sprag from the dealer, IMO there either is no such thing or at least not from GM. Perhaps premium builders like FLT and RPM have a source for a custom part, but I don't know.

I was told by sonnax that the new gm sprag is just machined better within a tighter tolerance to eliminate the roll over from failed sprags, maybe the material is better as well, they said buy the gm unit and put in the borg warner elements.... not sure if this is true but it seems like this mystery "wide" sprag is MIA

Ok guys bringing this back up I did find the sprag from a guy out of California and it was half steal and plastic cage. I was worried about the strength but here i am 4 years later going back in my Trans with no sprag failure.
Problem is I can't remember what site I ordered it from or my invoice, guess I should have posted my find on this one lol. Does anyone know where I can order it from?
