4L60E to Th350 swap... Gearing Question?
I was planning on swappin a T56, but it turns out I cant get the T56 Parts Car anymore...
Is it worth it to swap a Th350 into it? I want to put a manual valve body in it with a Ratchet shifter (Six Speed Center Console with Shift boot)
What all is needed? Just the trans and converter? I can use the stock crossmember by modifying it correct? I read somewhere I need a different dipstick tube, any part #'s would be helpful?
Gearing Question: I have 4.10's in the A4/4L60E now and I get about 12mpg average... Would 3.42's be about the same, better or worse with a th350?
Let me know,
Thanks in advance,
Kyle

I have done this swapp in my 2002 Camaro. I am not sure about using the stock cross member because I changed mine to the BMR with the torque arm connection. You will need a new dip stick. Mad man sells them on his site for the th350-th400. You do realize that going with a th350 you will lose the lockup clutch capability and your fuel milage will suck even worst. My car isn't a DD so I wasn't worried about it but this is something to think about. You already have the shifter in mind so you are on the right track but you will have to have it welded in place for it to be right and you will need a new shifter cable.

Yes you can get them full manual. My concern with going with another 4L60E was having to rebuild it again within another year. After having 2 of them rebuilt at over $2,000.00 a pop this was no longer an option. So I contacted PTC and had them build me th350 with the lower first gear and a 8" 5000rpm stall converter. I also have 4.11 gears in my 12 bolt rearend so my cruising speed is around 60mph and 3500rpm..

So what gearing should I go with to stay about even with the 4.10/4L60E MPG?
Also, will the Th350 clear the O2's on my Pacesetter Longtubes?
How much can I expect to pay for a stock/not built TH350?

I had lag in my transgo shift kit for my full manual 4l80e. After switching to jakes valve body and black box for full manual operation the lag is non existent. It's in the valve body on these electronic tranny's that needs to be done right to not have any lag between the shifts.
