Default Is my tranny hosed?

My 4l60e just turned 46,000 miles. I just installed a 2700 stall and it hits
the rev limit when going into 3rd at 3/4 and wot. I purchased a Diablo
Predator and I've tried to make some adjustments to correct this. Along with
not knowing what I'm doing I'm wondering if the trans needs rebuilt. At 13,000 miles when I first got the car it would chirp going into 3rd at the track. Before the t/c (this month) going into 3rd was a little slow but now
after the t/c somethings not right. The car is making good power (w/performance tune) but 3rd gear ain't making me happy. Can anyone
give me some base settings to adjust. I've got the 3:23's and have the basic
free mods and headers. Thanks

Bump up the rev limiter with the diablo and see what happens.

I thought about that but I still have the stock springs and don't want to over rev and bend a push rod. So I thought about lowering the shift points. I'm going to lower 3rd gear shift rpm some more today and see what happens. I hate when it goes bap bap bap bap.

Default Voltage dropping

Had a tranmission specialist ride in my car at lunch time.
When going into 3rd (wot)the rev limiter hit 3 times then shifted.
He said the trans is shifting fine. I told him I will lower my shift
rpm just a tad and maybe raise the limiter a tad. I told him I'm experiencing
an alternator fluxuation and he said that it would have an ill effect on the trans performance. With the exeption of the rev limit hitting 3 times I'm happy with the power that the Diablo Predator seemed to have made.

Tweeked some numbers last night. Trans is shifting just right now.
I'm just beginning to learn how to tune these cars and have alot to learn.

be sure. VERY sure your trans fluid, when the tranny is HOT is filled up all the way, but not overfilled. And actually you should have the tranny flushed every 30,000 miles. the fluid level can cause the tranny to overrev.

I would 100% not increase the rev limiter if you have a stock valvetrain. you're not making any more power. Get a tranny flush then check & top of the level!

Default Fluid level

Your are correct on the importance of proper fluid level. Alot of folks wouldn't
really consider that. It was one of the first things I double checked when I did the T/C install.
And as far as the rev limit I bumped it to 6200. I set the shift rpm to 5750 and now it is working great. Still have alot to learn on tuning. Thanks for
all the input.

(trans flush trans flush trans flush) Dont assume the previous owner did any service etc. Its the a4's lifeblood.

and i disagree :-) w increasing the rev limiter. If you ever dyno etc or just overrevv you could be bending pushrods!

I purchased the car at 13,500 miles and changed the fluid and filter at 25,000 miles. Might do it again soon. I've had my GTP flushed but not the WS-6. I've heard alot of horror stories of A4's crapping out soon after a flush. Maybe just bad luck who knows. I plan on a rebuild next winter if it'll
last thru the summer. K.O.W.
After lowering the WOT shift points and working alot better I'm going to go back and lower the limiter to be on the safe side. Will use hardened pr's when I do the H/C swap.
