converter lock up while racing question
Hi, I had my truck tuned a while back and my tuner set my converter to stay locked up at all times, would this help or hurt my 1/8th drag time/speed? Would unlocking it yield better results?
Side note: I have had to replace the transmission in my truck 3 times already, would constant lockup cause a failure?
2000 s10 with 2004 ls1 swap and 4l60e transmission, stock converter

I am not sure how your car can even run with a torque converter locked up at all times. The torque converter needs to slip when the vehicle is stopped so that the engine can run. I can imagine that having a converter locked up at all times would most certainly be bad for the transmission.

I'm sorry, I was mistaken, Its set to lockup through shifts.
But still, is that the way it needs to be? Locking up through the shifts? I've been having issues o. My 2-3 shift. It either won't shift at all until I let out of it from wot or it shifts so hard it blows the tires off.

Little update, we went in and unlocked the converter but it was over 100 degrees at the track, but I still ran one of my faster times. (same time as i have gone in 70 degree weather). There were some questionable actions taken by my previous tuner with the transmission settings, and we sorted those out and actually fixed my no shift issue.
