Default Yank SS 3600

I was just wanting some opinions I'm considering the Yank SS 3600 in my 01 Camaro SS I recently went with the tsp 224R cam and I love it but is this stall a good combo or is anybody running the same thing?

Im running this converter and so are a good amount of others. I just got my car back up and running with it and it's really easy to drive. With that can it should run real good with a tune.

I've got a 224 cam as well but with heads & I was lookin in the same stall range for my auto swap this winter. Check out Circle D, they are also a sponsor & have great converters from everything I have heard, might even save a few $$ too.

I have a SS3600 and it's tighter around town than the previous TCI 2800 I had. It does 'flash' to 3600.

I had the SS3600 in my old car, no cam. It woke the car up big time! I can only imagine with that size cam and a 3600 stall would be nice in your car

I did a 3200 with a TR224, liked it. I changed to an SS4k, loved it. Power basically everywhere.

That's a great converter. What are you geared? You will like it and expect to roast the tires now!

SS3600 here too, and you will NOT be disappointed with it! Its one of the absolute BEST mods you can do to an auto, just make sure you got a good trans cooler, and expect to buy back tires more often lol.

I still have the stock 3.23's but will be upgrading to 3.73's after the stall

Personally, I think the SS3600 is too tight for a cam'd car unless you planning on spraying. An SS4000 with 3.73 is going to have pretty good driveability, not to mention your cam will love the added shift extension.

Does it work well on the street and strip? I wonder if it would generate way too much heat while driving down the interstate at 70-80 for long periods at a time... even with a trans cooler?

no heat generated on freeway long trips because the 'lock-up' would be engaged/actuated,and since the stall is not stalling/slipping no heat generated. heat is generated when the convertor is functioning as a convertor.

So it actually generates more heat while hitting an 1/8 or 1/4 than interstate driving? What about in town driving... hard on the tranny with this big of a stall?

I have a 4L65E in a low 10 second car and with the right converter and rear end (being built now) i feel i can hit the 9's pretty easy. I currently have a 2800 stall and i think if i crank it up more with the 3.91's in the rear i would be fine. The word ive got is that the higher the stall the more heat and less driver friendly the car is as its still a car i cruise, but not a DD.

The Yank SS 3600 would work great with our 224R, and still offer nice drivability to go along with it.

There will absolutely be will be more heat drag racing than interstate driving. Just like FirstYrLS1Z said, it's the convertor slipping that creates the heat. And when it's slipping under load it will generate even more heat. If you get a lockup convertor and tune the TCC will lock at interstate speeds. When mine locks it drives exactly like stock, no extra RPMS, no extra heat, and no loss in gas milage.

For daily driving, I DD a SS4000 in a stock 60e with a 24000 GVW cooler and my trans never sees over 190*F. Heat is the hardest thing on a transmission that sees street use. As long as you get a big cooler and mount it somewhere it will get fresh air you'll be fine. For drag racing these are hard hitting stalls, if you make power and hook you better have a trans that can take the abuse.
