I am on my second B&M trans cooler, it has 1/2" npt fittings that I bought 1/2 npt to 6an adapters for. The problem is, the adapters only thread in a few threads before they bind up. I ruined the first cooler by trying to thread it further. Am I missing something here? Aren't the fittings supposed to thread in further than that?

They don't thread in very far. Wrap em with teflon tape and get them snug and you're good.

Hmm...interesting. That's kind of what I was wondering, but I wasn't sure if a few threads would do the job, considering how deep the fitting on the cooler is. Thanks!

its alumn to alumn, so the threads have to be lubed and clean-i have a 1/2 tap i usually chase the threads a little, then test fit, and use teflon tape

Well it's a new cooler and new fitting, doesn't get much cleaner than that!

I've seen 1/2 NPT threads with teflon withstand 3000+psi and not leak a drop. I used to test welds at work and lots had pipe thread fittings on them for test ports. Teflon tape is badass when done right.
