Default TH400 or Glide

I have a 87 notch fox with and lsx swap. Over the winter I am going to be swaping in a Turbo 370. I plan to make at minimum 650whp, more if it doesnt meet my expectations. Which transmission would you reccommend. The car weighs about 2900 with my in it. THe farthest it will ever be driven is to my work which is about 50 miles away. I know the final drive is the same, so mileage shouldnt be effected. Will the Glide help me get out of the hole and avoid spinning like it does with my current t56, or should i just go ahead and get the TH400?

I don't think the glide will be faster than the TH400, in fact I think just the opposite. The glide is popular because of starting line traction and consistency in high HP cars or dedicated bracket cars. I think you could get away with less converter and run the same or better times w the 400 because of better gear multiplication in first. If the 400 has traction issues in first gear, start in second gear and you have a glide. If it hooks in first, enjoy the better gearing of the TH400.
I ran a glide in a 63 nova many years ago and it was the most boring ,sloppy feeling car Ive owned. It was a built trans w a manual valve body and a 9" converter that would foot brake to 4K. It was great for a stop light racer because it would hook dead on sticky street tires. It was just no fun at all to drive. Just my .02.

Glide and call PTC for a converter, no need for the heavyweight 400 in your car.

This is also an option, one that I just looked very hard at before buying a glide to replace my 4L80. It is super expensive at this point but does have benifits, the 400 has a much better cooling curcit and you an get a better split with the 2.10 2nd but the cost 6-7K for a fully built no corners cut turbo glide kind of makes it out of reach unless you are going for the moon.
I spent half that on a glide with a full aftermarket case with all the tricks 300m shafts and a 1.80 gear set which allowed me to keep my current rear gear (4.10) and still have a nice starting line ratio with a 28" rear tire.
