yours is a 1pc body must use a 95 transmission, the soleniods are only compatible with a 95 pcm have yours built bis the best bet

Before considering Monster Transmissions, read this:
http://www.pissedconsumer.com/review...nsmission.html
Also look them up on their local Better Business Bureau - they get a similar rating there.

The '95 unfortunately is an odd-ball and unique year. I believe that pricesgarage runs a transmission repair shop and I would take his advice.

If you have the time and the tools I would avoid the shop these may seem like a nightmare to work on but once you open her up its like looking at hello kitty
I paid 300 total fluids and all for a basic minus the sunshell I replaced that with the beast
Whats a shop gonna run 12 to 15?
I used a video to help me through mine
Hardest part for me besides removing the pump was actually removing the trans only bcuz I had small jack stands pm me I can send you very useful links and pdf's

Well i have a DVD 4L60e rebuild video. i also have a spare 96 4L60e that i could practice by just taking it all apart and putting it back together.

As for the time i dont have that. My car is my DD. For now i will have to borrow my fathers car to make it work. I just wish there was a person nearby that new how to rebuild them and help me out.
I would be willing to pay them as well. With that said. im open to offers.

I just looked at the complete process of the 4L60e rebuild. From taking all the parts out to reinstalling them. looks like a peace of cake to me know.

With that said. Time to practice the 4L60e rebuild

Sponsor Jakes Performance is just 40 miles north of Dallas. I don't know what their backlog is, but I suspect their most basic rebuild would be the same price as any "local" shop and be much better.

Now im having second thoughts since this car is my DD. I need to get this fixed correct and quick. I also have another project with a 97 formula. on that one i will do the rebuild myself. no matter what the outcome is lol. i called jake perf and they gave me a quote of $2500 for trans and torque converter. i know if i take it to a regular shops it will be $2000 total, but i would rather pay $500 more for a better transmission. installed and all. i have a temporary DD for the moment. i will wait 3 weeks till i have that money and then il take it to jakes perf.

Just for my own info, the $2500 includes the trans rebuild, a new converter and the labor to remove/install it in your car?

Yes, $2000 for the trans + install and $500 for a TC.
Im thinking hes quoting me for a rebuild for a trans for a non stock car.
I only have bolt ons and cat back exahust. on his site he states its 1750 for a level 1 rebuilt. So i may have to call him back. i dont need a high performance rebuilt. as long as it support $350rwhp and a 2400 stall TC.

I recall several threads that said their shop's price to remove/install a trans in a Gen-4 was between $600 and $800. So, it sounds more like $1200-$1400 for the rebuild.
The new torque converter ensures that metal shavings sitting in the old converter don't damage the new trans. They will probably give you a choice of stall speeds for the converter - pick something in the 2400-2800 range for a DD and you will love it!- The "Wow, I should have done this years ago" kind of love.

Yea that sounds more reasonable. I will have to give them a call again. thanks for the info. il most likely do a 2800 stall. What manufacture do u recommend?

Default 4l60e

anyone heard of abram transmissions?
They quoted me $1334 for a rebuild + torque converter + external cooler.
This place is not even 5 minutes from my place. they offer 1 yr warranty.
I am leaning towards this.

A properly installed shift kit should help you trans last longer because the faster shifts will put less wear on the frictions. Also, the higher line pressure should reduce the chance of slippage at WOT. All in theory anyway.
Do you know which shift kit they installed? Or do they have their own combo?

Yea, im not sure about what shift kit they installed.
The shifts are super fast now. At WOT i for sure feel it wants to take off, lol.
They stated to take car again to shop in two weeks so they can make sure its running fine.
I guess its their own way of saying. if you dont return. its ur fault it effs up and we wont rebuild it for the 1 yrs warranty. lol
