best converter?
I have a A4 holden monaro ls1 (pontiac GTO in the U.S).. which converter is the best for my mods: exhaust, headers, replacement filer, intake pipe, 3.46 diff ratio, transgo shiftkit, B&M tranny cooler, 212/212 cam (i know its small), ported heads, LS1edit tuned PCM.
Which converter do you recommend me? im thinking of getting the Vig 3200 or the the TCI 3200/3500.. do you think they are ok?
Thanks,
PE

I have found that the Precision Industries Vigilante to be the "most" trouble free torque converter over the last 6 years, I can't say that about TCI from my past experiences over the last several years. There are a couple of other TC's that I have seen over the past 2 years that seem to be a good alternative choice (less money) to the "Vig", Edge, & Midwest. I will not warranty a transmission (700R4/4L60E) that uses a TCI torque converter. TCI seems to do well with TH350/TH400 TC's though, just not the "lockup" TC's for the 700R4/4L60E transmissions. I hope this helps?

Its never the tranny shops problem when something breaks with a after market torque converter from what i have read, the tranny guy blames the converter company and converter company blames the tranny company.

Pro Built, I think you'll see that TCI has worked out whatever troubles they used to have with the lockup converters. There are ALOT of folks here running them and they seem to be as trouble free as any other top-notch converter.

I have read some good things recently about TCI also. They were new in the LS1 community, but every new product is going to have some proplems, that is what it takes to get it right, some of us just end up being the genie pigs (spelling?) with aftermarket parts.
I myself have never ran a TCI, and don't plan to becasue I am happy with my Yank. I have also owned two PI Vig converters, a 3200 and 3600 and never had any problems with either of them. I think the Vig3200 is an excelling streetable converter

I vote for Precision Industries.
I have had several different converters in my C5. I have dealt with Yank and Hughes, and their customer service is poor. Precision Industries answers the phone every time. It is also a great converter, nice aggressive lock-up with no slip what so ever. So you don't get TC slip codes. They are the only company that I know of they offers a “2 YEAR UNCONDITIONAL WARRANTY”.
I wish the PI was the first converter I bought, instead of the 4th(2 Yanks and a Hughes).
