th400 + 9''w/ 4:10s + nitrous = what stall, come on in
swapped my 98 ls1 6 speed for a th400 trying to get ball park idea on what stall converter. the car is full weight as of now, car has carbureted 347 cubic inch engine about 500 flywheel hp on motor and will be hitting her with a 150-250 shot at the track, it has a moser ford 9'' rear with 4:10s, 28'' tire, and will be drivin on the street allot, I don't want the car to be a dog on engine on the street and I don't want to scream the engine over 7200-7400 rpms, so iam in the ball park 0f 3800-4500 stall, i was possibly thinking of a fti 4200 converter, also the transmission does have a trans brake. any help is appreciated thanks matt

Since its driven on the street, do you care about any street ability? 4500 stall+ 4.10s + TH400= screaming on the highway. Just about literally really.
If you want any type of street ability, I'd definitely go smaller on the stall and rear gear. Track wise thatd perform nicely though.

If it was my car and I was just weekend cruising, I'd probably say 4200 stall and 3.73s. But if I was just going for track times mainly and didn't care what it was like on the street, I'd lean toward a 4500. With the 28" tires and 4.10s do you know what rpm you'll be at across the line at the track?

I still got some math to do but I dnt kno what my mileage or rpm I will be at on the 1320, but I could care less about drive ability my girlfriend drives a 2000 t/a with 373s a built 4l60 with a yank 4400 and when I run her in third gear down the highway it isn't bad at all

I would go with the 4500 since you said you dont care about the driveability. My car used to be similar to yours. Th400, 9 inch, 4.57, about 500flywheel N/A, except I had a 3200 stall. The stall was what killed me. The car would dead hook off a full transbrake launch and would only sixty 1.63 because it needed more converter.

I had the exact same set up, minus the carb. On my old nitrous set up. Forged 347, 4.10s, th400, 28" tires and a 200 shot and when I called PTC they speced me a 3600 9" converter. It would foot brake to about 3,100 or 3,200 and go to about 4,500 on the trans brake. It ran awesome for me and is now in my brothers car and runs like a beast in his H/C/I, th400, nitrous car. He has a 7.5 with factory 3.42s though.
I would say your best bet is to call the converter company of choice and let them tell you the converter you need to run. If it's too tight or too loose then just get it restalled. Just about everyone gives you a free restall for a year.
