Default 2004 Tahoe 4l60e

My daughter's Tahoe 4l60e took a dump.
I am looking for a junkyard trans to replace it with.
What years will work for the Tahoe?
One boneyard told me 2004 4l60e must be replaced with a 2004.
Thanks,
david

p.s. it is 2wd.

Any 4L60E or 4L65E that came from an LS engine vehicle between '98 and '06 will work perfectly. Later years '03+ are a bit stronger because GM upgraded some parts to handle LS2 engines. '07 and '08 will have an input speed sensor (ISS) which will be ignored by older PCMs and therefore will work fine too. '09 and later have incompatible valve bodies; avoid those. Avoid anything before '98.
The trans that come from LS engine vehicles will have a bell housing with a bolt hole in the 12 O'Oclock position. Look for that!
AND be sure it came from a 2WD vehicle.
