Auto tranny slowing car down
I have a 96 z with a 95 engine in it
If I drive the car at 45mph and over approximately and release the gas the car acts like a stick that is going to fast for the gear its in and the engine starts to slow the car down like when you down shift and use the engine to slow you down.. Any one have any ideas?
Thanks for any help

From your description it sounds like the overrun clutch is engaged.
If the trans were really in [D3] (instead of [OD]) this would match your symptoms as the overrun clutch is only engaged in 3rd gear in [D3], which might correlate to 45+ mph.
However, if this happens in 4th gear (and obviously [OD]) this sounds like a valve body problem; it would be rare as I don't remember this problem being reported here in the past 3+ years.
Count the gear changes. If there were only 2, reaching 3rd gear, check your shifter linkage.
