4l60e upgrades? opinions?
So I'm sure this questions has been asked time and time again. I have a 2005 4l60e (56k miles)out of a silverado that Im putting behind a 400ish crank hp 5.3l in a 97 short box 2wd dakota. I already have a 3600 converter,sk4l60e Transgo kit,new separator plate, corvette servo, and sonnax pinless accumulator kit. Is there anything else I should get for it? The truck is just kind of a nice weather/weekend warrior rig. I'll be spraying 100hp shot to it occasionally, not very often though. The motor is a fresh with +.5mm 4.8 pistons,241 heads milled .020",torquer v2 cam,LT's 2 1/2" exhaust with x pipe and electric cutouts with dynomax bullet mufflers,NX plate nitrous kit (100hp shot), ls6 intake and injectors, and a walbro 255 pump. Thanks for your time in advance!

I also have the factory deep pan and a cooler for it. Seems like the most common upgrades, just not sure if there is something else i can do to help the tranny survive for a while

Are you you planning to do a rebuild or just stuff you can do with a pan drop? It sounds like you already have a lot of upgrades installed.
I'd defer to the experts and pros as I'm currently rebuilding my first transmission, but with you spraying 100hp (I'm guessing that means nitrous) would a stronger input shaft and drum be a good upgrade to withstand the sudden bursts of power?

I don't see a boost valve mentioned, the sk4l60e Transgo kit doesn't appear to include one. (The HD2 kit includes one.) I suggest installing a bigger boost valve even before a shift kit.
Therefore, I suggest the Sonnax boost valve; it is better than the Transgo because it includes o-rings for better sealing even in worn bores.
2005 is a tricky year as some, but not all, 4L60E are the newer design with ISS (Input Speed Sensor) which includes a different pump design and a shorter boost valve.
You need to determine whether you have ISS. These Sonnax instructions and pics might help:
http://www.sonnax.com/parts/2169#tabs1-instructions
Pre-ISS 4L60E (from '96 to some '05) use a longer boost valve and need Sonnax #4L60E-LB1.
ISS 4L60E (some '05 and '06+) use a shorter boost valve and need Sonnax #4L60E-LB2.
(I am unsure about pre '06).
(Also, if you install the Transgo boost valve, you will notice it comes with a thick aluminum washer. That washer is to be installed with non-ISS unit and left out with ISS unit.)
Other than that, you are good to go. Some 4L60E will last a long time even with 100 shot, while other die on the first run. With the stronger sun shell and other improvements GM made around '03 you have a reasonable chance of survival.
