Default 4l80e wont shift in to 4th and feels like I am hitting the brakes

I am having a problem with my 4l80e it's a 2001 Trans that I have in my 51 chevy powered by a lq4. I bought the Trans from a guy locally. I pulled the pan and found no clutch material. I serviced it with new filter and fluid. Every thing was working fine till yesterday. when I have it in drive it shifts through 3rd fine and then when it needs to go to 4th it wont release 3rd and it feels like I am hitting the brakes. If I manually shift to 3rd the braking stops. If I shift back to drive it tries braking again. So my question is do I have electrical problems or mechanical. I do not get any dtcs codes .

Sorry that no one has replied; many of the 4L80E experts seem to be on satirical this summer.
I know little about the 4L80E, but since it is electrically similar to the 4L60E, which I know well, I think you have a valve body problem. It could be as simple as a cross leak due to a worn gasket. Or it could be due vestiges of previous mods. Worst would be cracked hydraulic passages in the case due to excessive line pressure.

Perhaps someone familiar with 4L80E could chime in.
