Default 4L80e no 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear- fresh rebuild

I just rebuilt the 4L80e which is in my 79 Z28 with a 6.0. I did install the HD2 kit. I rebuilt one a few weeks ago in a stock 2002 2500HD with no problems, also with the HD2 kit. Anyway I installed the trans back in my Camaro tonight, and reverse works fine, and if I put it in 4th, it runs out fine (on the lift, with no load) but it is in 4th gear only, it doesn't start out in 1st and go through the gears. If I put it in 1,2,or 3rd, nothing happens. The other weird thing is the speedo works normally in reverse or 4th, it is at 0 mph in 1,2 or 3, but in park and neutral, it registers speed.

Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks!

Did you ever find out what was your issue? I’m having the exact same symptoms in a fresh build that’s driving me nuts!!
