Default Stock 4L80e torque converter ?

Anyone using a stock 4L80e converter in their street car ?

I have a 6.0L with the "hot cam" 219/228 .525 lift. Going in a 68 Camaro convertible.

Is there enough "stall" in the stock converter to be ok with this ?

I would recommend changing the converter regardless of the stall just for the shear weight difference... The stock converter weighs almost 70 pounds where as one of our 9.5" billet back 4L80 converters only weighs 32, that's almost 40 pounds of rotating weight you're saving...

Stall wise the stock converter should still idle and work with your cam but don't expect anything exciting from it from under throttle. comparing against one of SRL series again you could go with a 3000-3200 stall vs the stock 1600rpm and have some good performance under throttle while still maintaining great street drivability.

I'm not saying you are wrong about the weight of the stock converter but I can easily pick it up and I'm not very strong.

I'm estimating it's 40 lbs. I'll get back and let you know soon.
