Question older, but new SLP converter, good idea?

I never know SLP had a 3300-3500 stall converter, but I've found one. (dont know the STR though) The guy says it's never used and he sold his car, but the converter has been sitting in the garage floor for quite some time and he says that paint is scratched off and there is minor rust. I guess he's assuming on the shell and not the input. But I dont know. Would you trust it?

I think the SLP converter was just a Yank SLP sold.
