Default ssf3500 stall speed?

simple enough- i KNOW it is a 3500rpm converter, but in our cars what rpm's will i see if i just punch it from a stop and flash the converter?

i ask this because my friend with an older camaro w/327 and 700r4 trans has the ssf3500 and he only sees a stall flash of maybe 2500rpms.. this is with some good tires btw.

my car is basically stock also.. my ssf will be going in this weekend but im curious what to expect. also how much will it suck to drive with the 2.73's?

thanks in advance.

Mine stalls true to the stall speed. Flashes maybe even a little more than 3800 and holds 5100 on the shift extension on my stock internal motor.

mine doesn't flash that high but with my mods it does have that 5100 shift extension. its a pretty tight verter. useless with drag radials unless you light smoking the 60, you can pretty much do anything you want with ET's and a badass burnout (flash, hold revs to 2500,etc) and it gives consistent similar results.

just gotta watch how much heat is produced (any verter will do this) specially if you do not have a line lock (really should).

i am running the ssf 3500 with 2.73 and i think it runs great, i was concerned about looseness, but it feels just fine with me, if i punch it from a dead stop i will just roast my tires, i was getting bored with my car, now its a blast to drive again.

i only plan on running nitto's so i hope it'll hook allright. if not oh well, i'll just not launch as hard.

Franny- with 2.73's, did it affect the 1-2 shift (in a good way) and take out the 50mph-70mph flat spot? im gonna find out soon enough.. do you (franny) have any track times for that car/ 60 ft times.

im gonna have a trans cooler/ shift kit so i hope trans temp is not an issue, plus im not big on smokey burnouts and, if im not mistaken, they are really not needed with nittos, maybe just a little burn. otherwise i feel like im wasting my tires for almost nothing.

i have never had a desire to take it to the track before now i want to take it. it pretty much took care of the dead spots, i just love stepping on it. i have that feeling like i did when i first got it.the 1-2 shift is awesome. i run the nitto extremes555's, they are plenty traction for me right now,i am not in a hurry to get drag radials but when i am i will be getting the nitto dr's.
