Default 00 z28 converter

I blew my trans and converter in my z28a4 getting it rebuilt and was going to put a shift kit and a high stall converter in it. Was wonder what is the difference in price between the stock and higher stall? Also, how much of a gain will it improve in the quarter mile, and how high of a stall?

Stock converters can be had pretty cheap. The low
end TCIs (3000, 3500) will set you back $450-500 if
you don't find one of the occasional group purchases.
Most others are well more than that. If you learn to
launch it and have the tires to back it up you should
see 0.5sec improvement even with the "little" 3000.
Which is a nice streetable unit but on the mild side
relative to what most people end up with.

Personally, i would steer clear of the shift kit unless you like getting your tranny rebuilt. I have a stock verter sitting next to me if you want it.
