Anyone spraying a Yank Pro Thruster 4000?
I am trying to figure out which converter for a 200 shot on a 382 with X1 cam, 3.42 gears full weight 2000 Camaro, car shifts about 6500 NA and 6700 on nitrous. Per Yank chart, I should NOT use a Pro Thruster for nitrous, but when I called and talked to the guy there (Mike I think), said that I should use the PT4000 with a low STR (2.2) so it wouldn't kill the tires and would pull better midrange and up top. I was interested if anyone is using this converter with nitrous and the results.

I talked with Mike at Yank, and he told me the Pro Thruster 4000 was perfect for my application. i asked about why it isn't on the converter selector sheet, and he said not everything is on there. i hope it works or I will be pretty pissed. I shift at about 6500 NA and 6800 on nitrous.

I'm telling you upfront, an off-the-shelf YTP 4000 will hold a 5600 rpm shift extension on a stock cube heads and mild cam motor. On a 382 with big spray, you'll never see below 6400 and possibly you'll bounce right off the rev limiter.
Before you write them a check for $900, you should put your requirements in writing and fax it to them. I think there is a disconnect between you and Mike. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I have a TP4400, it worked great on my na382, shift ex about 5600 and it only slipped 200rpm up top. Now with a Vortech Ttrim+382 it blows the tires off, shift ex about 6300 and slips 500-600rpm up top. Mike is gonna tighten it up to about 3800. I think that 4000 might be just over the edge for you too.

Mike said the 200 shot would make the shift extension go up about 600 rpms, which would put me at 5600 or so, which would be livable. But, I am sending my heads back to MTI for the stage III upgrade with 2.08 valves and more port work, and ordered a bigger cam (242/250 .611/.617 114) so i will put all that in and then see how the converter acts. I really like how the converter pulls up top, it never seems to run out of steam. Hopefully I won't have to send it back.
