Tool yes, dog no. Nineball said it was alright or did I violate some other rule? Did your car sell? We were seriously considering driving down there to get it.

Well, if Tony gave you the ok, then that is fine. Just checking.

Yeah, the car is gone

With an M6 you should be able to put it in gear and break the bolt loose. You could use it I suppose.

Am I missing something here or how can you use this tool when loosening or tightening the crank pulley bolt to 240 ft-lbs with one hand?

Yeah M6 guys can just throw it in gear but a I guess there could be exceptions, doing clutch work at the same time or maybe having the tranny out of the car while working on the engine? Using this on A4's would prevent you from having to drop the starter or using an impact.

You can let it swing around and hit where the sway bar attaches to the frame. It sits there but it's at an angle so I used a piece of chain with a hasp and wraped it around the sway bar. I did this for torquing as it was hard to retorque and and do the 140 degree turn without having the tool stationary. It just depends on whether the car is on a lift or how high the car is off the ground. If it's not on a lift you can rest the tool on the ground. Maybe I should take some more pictures.

Just an FYI: Most people will tell you not to use an impact to remove the crank bolt. EVERYBODY will tell you not to use it to install it.
That tool would have worked aa lot quicker and more easily than having to drop the starter and shove a screwdriver into the flywheel. Would work great with the car on the ground. How long is the arm? Will it reach the floor with the front of the car on jackstands? I'm guessing no by the looks of it. Make the arm long enough to reach or find a way to make it that will allow you to keep it stationary without fabbing something up yourself and you'll be set.

It hangs down 23 inches from the center of the pulley bolt. So it depends how high you have the jackstands.

You know, that is longer than it looks. That might be long enough. I just did my cam swap a couple weeks ago and I only put the car up a little bit so I wouldn't have to lean as far over the side when working up top. That's a good looking idea for a tool you got there.

I use the Kentmoore flywheel tool for my swaps. You do have to drop the starter, but it works perfect and positively locks the flywheel.

Works the same whether tightening or loosening as there are the same attachments on both sides. Just wrap a chain or whatever is stout around the tool. Tried it tonight and got 240 lb ft without any problems.

Man, six months ago I built something similar to install the balancer that came with a Vortech kit.
Just drill a steel plate and weld a bar on it.
I'm happy to see I wasn't the only one with that idea!

My bar was much longer so I was able to torque the front bolt alone.
