4L60E took a dump, what now?
I was cruising on the highway, doing about 60, I speeded up to do a lane change, and the car got locked up, and rpms hit 4.5 rpms, and wouldn't shift. I manage to get over to a side road at a gas station, and by that time, the car would barely move. There was a terrible burning smell coming from the transmission. I started it up again after letting it cool down, and the car doesn't move at all. It took me about 4 hours to get home, after waiting for a tow truck.
I guess that's what you get when you run a 3500 stall and 3.73 gears, but I didn't think the tranny would die at least until I put my G5X2 cam in.
So now, I want to do things right the first time, and get something beefy. I don't want this to happen to me again. Any suggestions? I don't want to go over 1500 bucks, but a little allowance may be granted.

Well, I went to some of the sponsors to see if I can't just get a brand new tranny, and the average price is around 1500 bucks plus anywhere from a $600-1000 core charge for a decently strong tranny. I called up a few reputable trans. shops in broward and was quoted anywhere from 900 to 1200 for a very strong rebuild or an outright new unit. I think this is the way to go.

I talked to GM Dealer, told me 1500 for one with converter, warrn. it for 3 years, 50,000, dont think u will find a better warrn. sometimes cheap aint good, that sounds too cheap from what I heard. I spoke to about 40 or so, from junk yards to some of the best rebuiders
