TH 350 and a 98 flexplate?

TH 350 and a 98 flexplate? Do I need to use the 1/8 spacers with a 98 flexplate?? I have a 98 car and would hopefully like to bolt it right up. I did check the write ups and it only discuss' new cars using their flexplates. I guess 99's and up cant use their flexplates?? am I right?
