Great question, as I am buying a built 4L from FLP to go with my new FMS 347 nos motor setup. I have spoken with Karl Rossler about his 4L, which sells for around $2700 with core. Bottom line, I have to find a 4L that will live behind 650 fwhp. Karl said he would build a transbrake for a 4L.

Are his 4l60e trannies the real deal? I've heard so many horror stories about "built" 4l60e trannies not holding up to that kind of power and going boom. Can he build them to reliably withstand 800-900 rwhp?

Yep. The only way to go for that much HP...TH400
How much power do you plan on making exactly?

i'd like to know who's run an 8 with a 4l60e. heck, i'd like to know of one that will even take mid 9's or quicker consistantly. i really find that one hard to believe. also, if it's true, how long did it last? i would think that if it could be done by one company, it could be done by more, and we would ALL know about it and have one! i'd really like to know if you would.
thanks,
Dave

I know there are some great companys out there buliding a 4l60e.If your going to run 9s or 8s you better start thinking turbo 350 or 400.I think a 4l60e is good for a 10s car been there done that.Im not one for breaking **** to prove points. If rossler or any company can say are tranny will hold a 9s car all day then id go for it.

I put Carls top of the line transmission in last year and beat the **** out of it all year. (7000 miles and 150+ passes) This year should be the acid test. With my new 408 and a 300 shot we shall see what it can take. My car is alot heavier than a vette. The billet input and the custom 3-4 pack among other things is what sets Rossler above the rest. Plus for $545 plus any hard parts I can get it refreshed

Does anyone know if it can be done? I would sure like to know what Rossler has to say about this.
