Effects of Converter on the Daily Drive
Hey guys,
I can't find an answer to this question in the archives (probably because it's so simple...).
What will a HS converter do to me during my daily drive? Will my tires *chirp* when I take off from a red light even when I'm not trying to because the gear won't engage until I get to higher RPMs?
How about when I'm accellerating normally from, say, 20 to 60? Will it wait to shift until I get to the RPM rating of the converter for each gear? Does this mean I can't drink coffee when driving because of the surge from gear to gear?
I've got an LT1 A4 Y-body and it seems that the general recommendation is to get a 2600 which isn't really all that high... Oh, & I already ordered 3.54 gears to replace the 2.59s that I'll be installing soon, so that should spill a few coffees.
Thx,
-M

3000/2.2 has been a good daily driver for me. It's
not that outrageous, you need at least 1/4 throttle
to light them up at the light and over half, from a
1st gear roll You learn to drive it.

He has an LT1 diffrent ball game. If you have only light mods a 3000 stall is a good one for an LT1.
