tranny shift points with flashscan wont change.
i am helping a buddy of mine tune his 99ta. we can't seem to get the shift points to come down. it was shifting at 6200rpm and that too high. you can feel it fall off hard.
i was able to adjust the shift down to 6000rpm and that is still too high but after adjusting the numbers down even lower and then even much lower it wont shift any sooner than 6000rpm.
i changed all the cells in the rpm/shift table.
i changed all the higher tps cells in the speed/shift table.
right now the rpm is set to 5000rpm and the speed is set to 76mph and it is shifting at 6000rpm and 83mph.
anyone have any sugestions?

Can you scan it with that and log what the tranny is doing. Find out when it's commanding the shift compared to when it actually shifts. Change them accordingly by lowering whichever rpm or mph you need. I used HP Tuners and had to adjust both. It took a couple of flashes to get it right.

i am saving the file and the other changes we put in are working. we had to add a pile of fuel for some reason. it was going lean at wot, lean enough to send the 02's under .500. we got rid of the TM and turned the fans on sooner. all of those changes took fine.
i will try and drop the mph even more.

Both the RPM and MPH have to be met to initiate the shift. I usually keep the MPH low and dial in the shift with RPM. Also with a high stall converter you will have to set the shift point much lower than the point the shift actually takes place because the engine spins up so fast.
With a 4000 stall and 3.73 gears mine are set at:
Shift-----MPH---------RPM------------shift takes place at
1-2 ------29-----------6000-------------~6350
2-3-------63-----------5821-------------~6350

I assume you are changing the mph in the "wot shift mph" table right under the rpm table as well. Also, look in the speedometer section. At the bottom of the table where you change tire size and gear ratio, look at the very bottom entry "transrevs/mile". make sure the ghosted number to the right matches the tire size you indicated up top. If this is off, tranny will do all kinds of crazy shifting stuff at wot...mainly not shift 2-3 and hit the limiter.

i am changing the rpm on one table and the the mph on 2 seperate tables. once the rpm didn't work i just looked at the speed table and saw that it was telling it to shift about 5mph sooner than it was shifting so i thought that was ok. i did pull that back a couple of mph but it didn't seem to help so i gave up. i think i just need to pull that back some more, i didn't know it took 5-8mph to get the shift done.
thanks and i will be trying this soon.

we are going to drop the mph even more to see if that helps but are you saying there is something wrong with the car?
