Help tranny doing weird stuff help
hey guys i need help w/ a problem i have.let me explain to u the problems i have ,first when crusing on the highway let say at 70 mph every now and then like the lock up will open and if i was doing 70 at 2300 rpms it will go to like 4000 rpms,and then let off the gas and it slightly engage again and no more problems,wat can this be?can it be the actual lockup switch?or some other crap?then second problem let say i launch the car and i shift manually into second sometimes it take to long and the rev limiter will kick in untill i let off a bit and it shifts into 2nd.wat can this be?its not that i shift to late because i put it in 2nd by 4000 rpms and it still takes long or even the rev limiter will kick in.please help

i really would like to find out wat it is.maybe it does go into 3rd gear.if it does then wat cause the tranny to downshift alone?or if it the lock up wat causes it to open or unlock

A burned 2-4 band or badly glazed over reverse input drum causing the 2-4 band to slip........Leaking band servo.......Whatever it is it sounds like an issue with the 2-4 band. You are not just losing lockup, a 1700 increase in RPM's means you are losing a gear. 4th to be exact.

Hows second gear??? I'd lookfor slipping in second...could be band ...cept itermittant don't seem like a band to me ..it's more like either or with a band. However if it's something electrical like a vss you'd get the 4-3 downshift..3-4 upshift...I'd hook up a scanner and find out if it's be commanded..Hope this helps....Dave

This, along with the slipping in 4th with the excessive RPM increase is why I believe he has a band or band servo problem.
