Non-electrical transmissions
I'm getting a bit tired of my 4L60E. First, I needed a total rebuild, then my lock up solenoid died, and now the solenoid is dead again. I abuse this from time to time, but damn. The only thing that has been wrong with my car is the transmission. Kinda tired of it. Don't get me wrong, I don't MIND driving the car with no lock up, but just the fact it ain't supposed to be like that, well...
So my question is, is there a strong transmission out there that can handle a cammed LS1 with the occasional 150 shot that DOES NOT have any electronics, and comes with a full manual(that I'd have to shift myself)? I've seen the TH-400, but I heard that it eats up a LOT of horsepower. Is this true? I see all the vendors that offer some nice 4l60Es, but I don't want to deal with the electronics anymore. I would like a non-electrical unit where I can spray through the shifts if needed. Any suggestions?
