Default Couldn't get my car in gear this morning

Sorry I posted this in a wrong forum here it is though.

Only had the car this summer and this was the first night it's got down into the 30s

It's a 98 Formula A4. I started the car up and no matter how hard I pressed the brake and pushed the button on the side of the gear selector, I couldn't get the car out of park. Went outside just now to try again and had no problem.

What causes this?

Did you make sure you did not have the steering wheel locked up

First thing I checked, the wheel moved freely

It's the dreaded shift interlock solenoid gremlin. Seems this gremlin mostly comes out in the cold. You can neutralize him by unplugging the solenoid under the console top.

Only if you drive the car into something, as you will be able to put it in gear with your foot off the brake.

It happened again this morning. Is there an easier way to fix this instead of taking the console apart?

And if not is there a guide to where the solenoid is?
