TH350 will handle for numbers sake let's say 800hp if built up. It is a 3 speed auto with no overdrive.
A TH400 will handle 1600hp+ if built up properly and is a 3 speed auto with no overdrive. It will also suck up about 30-40hp due to heavier internals (parasitic drag). It also ways probably 50lbs more.
Weight of the vehicle will determine how much abuse a transmission will take. Lighter cars are softer on parts.
4L60E is basically an electronically shifted TH350 with overdrive (but TH350 will be stronger)
4L80E is an electronic TH400 with Overdrive
Powerglide is a 2speed automatic with no overdrive and is usually put in cars with lots of power but limited size tire (non tubbed). They suck up the least amount of power, are the cheapest to build up, and can handle a crap load of power.

Ill have to go th350 with a manual valve body then. Im planning on shooting a 200shot. So maybe a th350 and a 12bolt with a spool will not blow up right away lol
