Default TH400 Guys

I would like to know if the TH400 bell housing is different than the 4L60E and what is the differents?
I see guys talking about lockup converters where do you get them at and are they any good?
I have to get rid of the junk 4L60E I'm on the 3rd rebuild and at 1500$ each time is a joke.
Do you think a trans brake is a good idia or not.

Thanks Jason

bellhousing is different but bolts right up minus one bolt. If you shave the "ears" off for the torque converter cover...I found that i have more room under there than with the 4l60e. I think yank makes a lockup converter for the 400...dunno who else might
t-brake is a good idea if.....you drag race...got a good rearend in the car and dont mind that it HAS to be a manual shift th-400 if you get e t-brake

So do you need the 7th hole in the trans? I don't see way you would but i dont want to screw somthing up. I have a Ford 9" and the car is going to be a street/strip car. I like the idea of having a t-brake but what stall and gear is good for my car 26/11.5/15" tires.

thinks for the help Jason

The trans will have six bolt holes in it but the one upper pass side will not have a matching hole in the block so you'll end up with five bolts holding it onto the engine. Personally I'd use Yanks new LSX TH400 bellhousing. With this you cut the bellhousing off and bolt thiers in place on the TH400 pump.
With this bellhousing you can use all EIGHT LS1 engine to bellhousing bolts.
