Transmission Cooler for M6 to 700R4 swap
Hey
What trans cooler is people using with a M6 to automatic swap. Radiator has no trans cooler in it so what can you use?
Swap is done, M6 to 700R4, Trans is GREAT. 2400 stall converter, every day car.
Put in a True Cool 28,000 cooler in front of A/C condencer. Put temp gauge in pan. In the moring here (cool about 45 deg) going about 55-60 the trans will get up to 230 and it stays there. At the same time motor oil temp is 150 with no cooler, water is 190.
Opshions looking at:
1. 10 inch elec fan Spal 1050 cfm
or
2. 40,000 true cool trans cooler
or
3. both fan and 40,000 cooler
what do you guys think

Something doesn't sound right. Are you sure you have the lines ran correctly. For a 2800 stall a 28k cooler should be more then enough to keep the temps down. I was running a 4200 with a 28k and my temps were always below 200.
Here's how I routed the fluid flow on mine

I'd go on eBay and look for a LT1, A4 radiator; they
can be had for dirt cheap, have more cooling capacity
and the internal heat exchanger too.
Your trans cooler is kind of at the mercy of the fans,
if these are still using stock settings then the trans
cooler only gets airflow when the engine gets hot.
That's not really well-coupled to the heat situation
inside the trans.
