TH350 takes about 50 h.p. to run, TH400 takes about 75 h.p.. THat is a major consideration on less than super high output engines. A properly built TH350 will handle up to about 500 h.p., or more if you spend a ton of money on it. A TH400...well, the sky's the limit.

TH350 will handle quite a bit more than 500rwhp, but whatever. I am running a Rossler TH350 RMVB w/ brake, 4000 stall and launching on 200shots (dyno'd over 600rwhp) no problem. And yes, a TH400 when setup will out-handle a 350. I got the 350 used, and it was very affordable for what I got I couldn't think twice about it.
350 is lighter (unless you spend a fair amount on lightened internals for the 400) and smaller. As long as I dont exceed the power limit, which I would have to get back with Carl to see what the limit of this trans is, I'll stay 350.

No one ever talks about the differences in diameter of the output shaft/slip yoke. Better is better.

The only reason I chose a TH400 over the 350 was strength.
I was getting tired of my car being down for 6 months at a time while I saved up for yet another tranny rebuild.
Now I can break and replace other parts of the car for awhile.

I'd go 400 myself... good for 400hp or so stock.
