What to do to an A4...
ok well here it is i just gotta 02 Z28 thats auto its my first ever automatic fast car and i know some about them but not loads. its going to be a good daily driver which in the future will have headers, exhaust, gear, & other bolts ons etc. maybe at most a procharger eventually but i am not going into the motor with this one.
what should i do to the trans ive heard shift kit, trans, cooler, torque converter, etc.
what are the good brands i should be looking at for the trans mods ive heard B&M, Trans Go, TCI etc but what would be the best combo?
also whats the biggest stall you'd run with a daily driver?
what really would be best considering it will be driven on the road and stuff. also i hear about people changing the tranny mounts... why?
like i said im good with the M6 but with an auto im new any help will be appreciated thanks guys.

Once you install and higher stall converter and new gears, it will be a completely different car. I have been through several converters and always ended up going bigger. As for the gears, depending on what you have, 2.73 or 3.23, I would upgrade those as well. Currently, I have the Yank SS4000 with Strange 3.73's (12 bolt) and this is drives the best compared to my previous setup's. It has a tad of looseness and that is barely noticeable.

My car is not a dily driver, but thats only becuase I like to keep it out of the weather and away from the nasty place I work at, but I do drive my car a LOT on the street with a Yank SS3600 and have no issues at all and would easily DD this setup.

Mine is a DD that doesnt get many miles and I'm currently packing a 4400. In my opinion, it's not too much for my 500RW. Before that I had a Vig 3800 and it was definitely a good fit with my 4L60E but the new tranny gave me the opportunity to upgrade yet again. In fact, I still have it and can make you a deal if you're interested. It only has 600 miles on it so it's basically new. At any rate, everyone will tell ya to go one higher than what you think you'll want.

I went with a 3200 vigilante(level one) in my daily driver and didn't get the results I expected.
Grenaded the transmission on nitrous so I had it rebuilt as a level 3 with a transgo shift kit, vacuum modulation, and fuddle 3600.
After the rebuild I dropped about half a second off my previous best NA time.
I'm happy with the drive-ability of the 3600, and the 3.42 gears in the back. The Gas mileage isn't horrible, but I miss my 2.73 gears in that respect.
Before any mods I would get 29mpg with the cruise control set at 85mph, now I only get 16mpg no matter the speed.
The reason people change the transmission mount is because the stock ones are notorious for tearing anytime you go beyond about 325hp.
When you put in a stall, put on a trans cooler. It's stupid not to.
I don't think there is "one best combo" and only you will be able to decide if you can handle daily driving a car with what stall.
Best way is to drive someone else's car with the mods you are thinking about. That's what I did, and that's how I knew my 3200 vig sucked. Another car almost identical to mine was radically different with the same supposed stall. Doesn't mean all vig's suck, just mine did.

The verter didn't kill 13mpg, all the mods combined did.
I guess it didn't spell it out clearly enough when I stated "whout any mods I got 29" now I have all sorts of other mods, larger injectors, gears, level 3 transmission, intake, exhaust.
Every mod I did I noticed a small chip in the MPG.
I need to get a full tune done soon instead of tweaking one thing at a time, so I'm sure I'll regain some MPG as I'm running rich right now.

if you're certain you're going to go with a blown setup in the future with numerically high gears (3.73's, 4.10's), consider a 3200 - 3600 stall (leaning more towards 3200 IMO). any taller and you're going to be rpm'ing too fast and miss the whole powerband the FI setup does well in. if you were swapping cams and upping the rev limiter, i'd say go higher but since you'll be shifting at 6,000 rpms, you'll be hurting yourself going too large.
