Default 1.38 60' on a fuddle/howard converter

First i wont allow this thread to become a drama queen thread. i am sharing my personal experiences with this particular brand of converters. my last setup was a 4L60e (slipping) that went 1.47 60' on m/t radials on his fuddle 3500 converter.

nothing changed about the motor on my car. i changed transmissions b/c i wanted the bigger tranny for future builds. i also went from 4.10 gears to 3.73 gears. combining the rear gear lost with the smaller first gear in teh th400 i figured i would loose some 60'. i went with another fuddle th400 style converter. i didnt care about str or shift extension. i think that is pure bullshit personally. i told him the specs of my car and my goals. i wanted a hard hitting efficient converter in the range of 4000-4400 rpms that can run reliably into the 9s (eventually). quick rundown of my car:

1999TA
stock heads, 230 comp cam
340 rwhp on radials n/a through 4L60e (and probably lower now)
125 wet NX shot
3.73 gears
Fuddle converter
m/t radials
3600 lbs raceweight
BMR suspension, 100% stock front suspension

off the footbrake n/a: 7.41 @ 94 1.55 60'
off the footbrake 125 shot: 6.73 @ 102 1.38 60'

1.38 60' is rockin and still maintaing great efficiency IMO. i have also gone 1.39 60' off the transbrake. still testing and learning this combo. there is definately more in the combo.

i didnt opt for any upgrades. i am super happy with this converter. it is also very efficient as i am not even shifting into 3rd at the 1/8th mile. i havent been able to get a clean run at the 1/4 mile track and i think i just spun a rod bearing (different story).

i hear lots of stories of bad dealings and poor performance. i cant speak to anything about bad dealings but i can tell you these two converters i have had built by Fuddle/Howard have far surpassed my expectations.
there is my real life testimonial

Not saying anything bad, but those 60's doesn't jive with your ET and MPH. Can you post the 330' times and at what track this was? Thanks!

the car has gone 1.391 60' before on the same setup off the TB. the car has always hooked well. what helps are the 325 m/t radials. i have to check on the slip at home. didnt bring them to work with me. off of memory (could be wrong) it was in the 4.20s range

track is sunshine dragstrip 1/8th mile in clearwater, fl - a bunch of ls1tech members saw this 1.38 pass and the previous 1.39 at Bradenton motorsports park (our local 1/4 mile track). both are known all over the southeast. esp bradenton.

here is the 1.39 transbrake thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-racing-results/610386-m-t-radials-work-well-transbrake-heavy-street-car.html

remember this car makes under 470 rwhp (on the nitrous) which will explain the et/mph. the chasis can take everything i throw at it + great tracks here.

As I said, I wasn't saying anything bad. Just curious, you have a great suspension setup.

Just curious, when did you buy your Fuddle(s)? I got mine early last year. I have not run mine at the track yet, but have not been displeased with it yet. It is a bit loose compared to stock, but has not failed.

I don't think anyone makes a stall as tight as a stocker.

Great 60's gator.

i am not looking to restore anyone faith in the product. i see a lot of complaining and just wanted to share my experience with this product. i am in no way tied with fuddle or howard converters.

i have had two different styles of converters from fuddle. both of them have performed tremendously. its probably not by chance.

Sounds like a very hard hitting converter to me. How consistent is your setup?

n/a god i cant get the sob to spin lol. on the nitrous it needs good prep but i am honestly a time slipper or headsup racing my friends type racer. some call it a TNT racer lol. i have never setup my car on the nitrous to be super consistent (like bracket stuff). with the radials if the track isnt there, they have a tendency to shake. esp on the transbrake shock. i cant launch over 3500 on the TB without it shaking. madman talked me into hitting it with a transbrake but i need better shocks. but still i havent had enough seat time to REALLY judge the consistency of this converter. the 4L60e converter was dead consistent. i have also never had my car on scales so there is more tweaking left in it.

nothing beats a slick imo for consistency.

There have been many posts on many forums that claim their converter feels like stock on the street. When I first had to rev to 2000+ to get moving, I was surprised. But it seems to be tightening up a little as I put a few miles on it. But I still do not understand the claims that their stall feels like stock on the street.

you are just misunderstanding what people are saying when they say "it feels like stock" - obviously it doesnt feel REALLY stock. otherwise they would be pissed. a better performing converter has to be mroe loose than stock or you wouldnt gain any performance.

my converter is far from a stocker.

That is an outstanding 60ft especially for your race weight.

I cannot disagree. But I would never say that it feels lilke stock on the street, because it does not. As to "REALLY", I do not understand.
