Question Need strongest Possible 4L65E

HI Folks, not a regular here. Having a motor built for my long body Escalade which will have about 750HP & 780ftlbs. I have a built 4L80E (modified drive shafts, etc) but I am trying not to complicate things anymore and want to see if I can get by with a 4l65E properly done.

What I have been told:

1) For the weight of this car 6000lbs and this power, no 4L65E will last
2) Lingenfelter even had to have one of their cars to go to a 4L80 after breaking many L65s (but I am not sure if it was properly done).

If anyone can tell me if there is a configuraiton that will stand up to this weight and power, it would be great. I am not using a stall converter. Just the stock.

Many thanks....

You can look at our level three if any 4l60/65 E can take it then it should , but you probably are pushing the limits with a vehicle that heavy and large with any 4l60e

Thanks so do you mean kind of not recommended? With this heavy of a car what do you feel comfortible with, we can always back off on the blower boost and detune

Can you share your opinon on the true strength advantage of the 4L80E over 4L65E?

Well a 4l60e/65e should handle this in a predominately street environment but I would still say level 3 we have cars running much high power levels than that but thats big heavy vehicle , I believe if you stay in the 800- HP range it will be fine. The 4L80E would be ideal and should easily handle into the 1000 hp range also but we don't sell those at present and they are a tedious swap , I believe you would be fine with our level 3 4l60e/65e I would suggest though about a 3000 stall 9.5 inch converter though over stock because it will have to be able to take some torque ,Our converter would be ideal here because they are tight converters which is very desirable for heavy cars.
And of course we will still warranty the entire package for 1 year with the level 3

780ft/lb in that heavy of a vehicle wont last. Go 4l80e once and be done

6,000 lbs? 4L80E FTW. if you were driving an f-body, the 60/65 may have a shot with an excellent build, but with a 6,000 lb vehicle, get a 4L80E and never worry about your trans again. a 4L80E can hold double your power in a vehicle that heavy if built right. i've seen plenty of them rated to 1500hp.

I too advised him that the 4L80E would be his best move if he planned on any strip use but he says the vehicle never sees strip and only the occasional stoplight run.

If you want to do it once, 4L80E period!! We've been down this road with the truck guys many times. You can look at our level 4 street/strip 4L80E on our web page, that's what you need.

As I said on phone if your planning on the track or racing heavily I would suggest a 4L80E , but if as you said its a daily driver with only the occasional stop light bandit stuff then I beleiave our level 3 4l60e will be fine

I think if i remember in our phone conversation hes a 4x4 all wheel drive, I think thats why hes avoiding that swap , though I did advise him on the best way to go if he chose to.
