got ripped off! going with a Th400?
i just got ripped off by going with a tci 4l60 that blew out with like a thousand miles on it. so to rebuild it i was quoted 1600 with labor. so i'm thinking about going with a th400 with a trans brake but i want to know who has the bedst bang for the buck and who builds a good th400? any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks..

There are a bunch of reputable trans builders and while I'm not an auto guru, it's my understanding that it's tuff to ***** up a TH400 build using good hard parts.
Don't know about bang for the buck. You get what you pay for. Don't cheap out on the converter or cooler.
Fwiw.... I'm running a Gearstar/Yank rmvb, TB'd, manual lock up ss3600 TH400 and it performs flawlessly. I paid $2200.00 for the package less cooler, shifter, lines, fittings etc.

Ok well I guess one excuse is a good as another , Our warranty is very different , Basically even if we did think what killed it was on your end we would just fix it and then tell you what you needed to correct to avoid the issue reoccurring .
How did they know the presure was bumped anyway did you tell them ?

Well sorry to hear that happened to you Many companies offer a good product about that there is no doubt. But I also have said the things that truley set companies apart is how they deal with and help there customers when something does go wrong. And no matter who or where a trans comes from sometimes things dont go as planned. Thats where customer service and a warranty thats not loaded with if and or butts is a nice thing to have.

TCI won't warranty ****. I had a customer that bought a C-4 that lasted less than 100 miles. Apparently whomever built the unit didn't put the snap ring on the output shaft good. It popped off, spit the shaft out the back and the trans self destructed. They wouldn't warranty it.
