Default T-56 to TH-400

I started on the swap a week ago, I'm about 75% finished, working on it a little bit at a time. I thought since I got most of my info. here that I would post up some of the part numbers that I used to do the swap.

TH-400 4 inch tail shaft RMVB

TCI Flexplate Billet SFI 0890399753
TCI Trans sheild SFI (red) 0890980000
Lokar dip stick 0625TD3350400FM36
B&M Supercooler 28,000 GVW 013070266
Hurst Q/stick Pistol Grip 0530316-2001
Th-400 Cooler line 055560362
Precision Industries Vigilante 4000 stall ( built for a TH-400 LS1 swap )

The trans. mount and spacers I ordered from Raptor, the T-56 crossmember will work. ( possible minor modifications )

I had to use 20 MM long torque converter bolts, the flex plate was too thick for the bolts that came with the converter.

We also had to massage the trans. tunnel on the passenger side, the TCI tranny sheild was keeping the trans from lining up properly.

I had a local company build a drive shaft, and install the VSS in the tail shaft of the trans.

I still need to....

Install the dipstick tube.
Wire the trans break.
Wire the neutral safety switch.
Remove clutch pedal, and master.
Run the trans cable.
Finish running the trans. cooler lines
Wire the VSS

I will post final thoughts when finished.

Don

thanks for the part numbers. I am going to be doing this soon as well. The hardest part I am having right now is deciding what shifter I want to go with.

Well I may doing this sooner than expected. I just scored a Rossler th-400 for free from my buddy up north, he is going to go with a glide and has way too much money to know what to do with. I am picking it up in 3-4 weeks as I am driving up there for a vacation time.

I will need to check out your set up before I buy more stuff.

It depends on what parts you choose.
I already had the TH400, and have spent about 2,000.00

I'm in the process of doing this same thing, and going to a 12 bolt at the same time. I might be bugging you for some input, but so far so good.

Mine is finished but with all the rain I have yet to get the car back. My mech said it fun to drive and once I get it, I wont miss the 6-speed at all. As far as the bolt size, my mech did all the work, I gave him a stock flexplate.

Spun a bearing at the track....the TH 400 works great, sucks I don't get to enjoy it.

New block and rotating assembly are at the machine shop this week, I should have the new motor in by the end of the month.
